Ansel Elgort denied the sexual assault accusations by a girl who said the incident happened just a few days after she turned 17 in 2014.
“I was distressed to see the social media posts about me that have been circulating in the past 24 hours,” the actor said in a statement. “I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings, but her description of events is simply not what happened. I have never and would never assault anyone,” he added.
Elgort, however, confirmed she had a “brief, legal and entirely consensual” relationship with certain “Gabby” in 2014.
The “Fault in Our Stars” actor also admitted that he stopped responding to her at one point, and apologized for his “unacceptable” behavior.
“Unfortunately, I did not handle the breakup well. I stopped responding to her, which is an immature and cruel thing to do to someone,” Elgort wrote. “I know this belated apology does not absolve me of my unacceptable behavior when I disappeared.”
“As I look back at my attitude, I am disgusted and deeply ashamed of the way I acted. I am truly sorry. I know I must continue to reflect, learn, and work to grow in empathy,” he added.

In a statement, Twitter user @ItsGabby said she had messaged him a couple of days before her 17th birthday. The “Baby Driver” actor then gave her his private Snapchat.
“I didn’t think he’d ever see my DM, I was just a kid and was a fan of him,” she said.
Gabby said during the alleged ordeal, she was “sobbing in pain” and “didn’t want to do it.”
“The only words that came out of his mouth were, ‘We need to break you in.’ I WASNT there in that moment mentally. I dissociated myself and just felt like my mind was gone and I was in shock … I couldn’t leave, I was only 5’2″ and 98 pounds,” she wrote.
“I was so young, and he knew that. He as well said stuff like, ‘You’re going to be such a beautiful young lady when you’re older,'” she added.
Gabby also alleged that Elgort of asking her for nude photos, and “asked to have a threesome with me and one of my ‘dance friends’ and they were as well underage.”
“I didn’t tell anyone because he said it could ‘ruin his career.’ I sat there for months, wondering what I did wrong. Wondering why I felt so used,” she said.
The Twitter account of Gabby seems to have been deactivated after making the allegations.
