A police officer and his cohort have been arrested during a “buy-bust” drug operation in Angeles City.
Police say 38-year-old Mervin Manaloto, assigned to Police Station Five, and his cohort, 26-year-old Richard de Guzman were arrested after they sold a 1,500 peso bag of shabu to an undercover police officer.
Once De Guzman took the marked money, the undercover cop signalled his fellow officers positioned nearby. At that point, the duo sped off on a motorcycle and a chase ensued. The suspects were eventually cornered in a nearby barangay.
After ordering the driver to remove his helmet, the officers were surprised to see their colleague Manaloto.
Confiscated from Manaloto was his loaded 9mm Glock handgun, a fragmentation grenade and a plastic sachet of shabu weighing 2.5 grams.
De Guzmen was later found to possess a .38 revolver another sachet of shabu and the marked money.
