Ambulance crashed into creek: 2 dead, 3 injured

Two people were reported dead while three others were seriously injured after an ambulance accidentally crashed into a creek while crossing Sitio Ve-ey, Talubin, Bontoc, Mountain Province on Tuesday morning.

Cordillera Police Director P / Brig. Gen. Israel Ephraim Dickson identified the victims as Kurt Akiate and Franklin Angawa, the ambulance’s driver.

Those injured were rushed to the hospital: Rexton Duyabat, 20; Nelda Joy Tapyugan, 23, and Annabel Atang, 31.

It was 7:50 am when an ambulance with five passengers aboard, including a patient who was to be rushed to the hospital, accidentally crashed and fell at approximately 150 meters deep creek.

The ambulance (SJS 623) from Hungduan, Ifugao was currently traveling on the said area when the driver lost control of the steering wheel.

The victims were immediately rushed to Bontoc General Hospital, but two of them died due to severe injuries.

Suspect for raping, killing child in Quezon found dead in jail cell

Police said the suspect for raping and killing an 8-year-old girl in Candelaria, Quezon, was found dead inside his jail cell on Wednesday.

Ricardo Burce, 55, has no pulse and no longer breathing when his fellow inmate tried to wake him up this morning. Candelaria police rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No further details about the suspect’s death were released as of this writing.

Burce died the day after President Rodrigo Duterte reportedly ordered police to hunt down and neutralize an alleged “serial rapist” of children in Quezon.

“Hanapin nila kung sinuman ‘yan at huwag na nila buhayin (Find that person and don’t let that person live),” Duterte was quoted as saying in a Manila Bulletin report.
