The Abu Sayyaf group has announced that it will behead Kjartan Sekkingstad on Monday if their demands are not met.
Abu Sayyaf militant Abu Rami called several journalists on Sunday and informed the media that the beheading will be done after reports of Jesus Dureza’s announcement of the Philippines’ ‘no-ransom’ policy.
He said: “There is no more ultimatum, we are going to behead this Norwegian anytime today.”
Abu Sayyaf has demanded 300 million pesos in exchange for the Norwegian’s freedom.
Rami told reporters that their demands were already set for delivery, and they were waiting for someone to deliver the money.
Kjartan Sekkingstad is the last remaining Samal Island kidnapping victim from a nighttime raid on Oceanview Marina, in Babak, Davao del Norte last November.
The terrorist group’s most recent announcement comes just two days after the discovery of Robert Hall’s body in a shallow grave in Sulu on Saturday.
Hall was beheaded by the Abu Sayyaf on June 13 after attempts to raise the ransom money fell short. His head was found that same day in front of Jolo Cathedral.
Marites Flor was freed from captivity on June 24, and the first person to be killed by the Abu Sayyaf group was John Ridsdel, who was beheaded in April.
