Abu Sayyaf released a female Malaysian hostage after officials paid a 30-million peso ransom for her release in Indanan, Sulu.

50-year-old Thien Nyuk Fun was released at 10pm today after two Malaysian nationals, one identified as Captain Hassim, handed over the ransom money.

Fun was originally taken hostage on May 14 from her restaurant business in Sandakan, Malaysia.

She was also taken hostage with another Malaysian by the name of Bernard Ghen Ted Fen.

After paying the ransom, Fun was taken to the town of Prang where she was escorted to a waiting speedboat.

No other information was available about the second kidnapping victim being held together with Fun.
