6 anti-vaxx protesters arrested for going out without face mask, vaccine

Six people were arrested after violating various government protocols in a protest against the COVID-19 vaccination.

It is said to be related to gathering about 150 people at Liwasang Bonifacio Shrine, Ermita, on Tuesday while not wearing face masks and rallying against the government’s vaccination.

The Police District on Wednesday named the six as:

  • Antonio Lorenzo Santillan (taga-Laguna)
  • Reynaldo Valeros Jr.(taga-Cavite)
  • Sonia Valeros (taga-Cavite)
  • Albert Muyot (taga- Makati City)
  • Christopher Samarita (taga-Bulacan)
  • Dixie Anthony Parungao (taga-Parañaque City)

While discussing with Pltcol Dionelle Brannon, station commander of the Ermita Police Station, they found out that those mentioned by the Gising Maharlika group were “leaders.”

He said, apart from not wearing face masks properly, which provide protection against COVID-19, the six above allegedly failed to show a vaccination card, which violates the “no vaccine, no labas” ordinance of Manila.

“[They publicly question] government action against COVID-19 pandemic and encourage their members to refuse vaccination,” said MPD.

“Above named persons were initially  warned about  their protest action while in the present alert [level 3] status, but they refused to abide. Hence, numerous cited violation of law that resulted to their apprehension.”

  • Republic Act 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act)
  • Article 151 ng Revised Penal Code (Disobedience to Person in Authority)

The police made the arrest after the Metropolitan Development Authority issued a resolution when it came to those who were not vaccinated to leave their homes amid the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases.

A week ago, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the arrest of those who leave the house but do not want to be vaccinated.
