Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) said Wednesday six members of terror group Abu Sayyaf surrendered to the military forces in Luuk, Sulu.
The six ASG members surrendered to the 4th Marine Brigade in Barangay Tandu Bato last June 16, the WestMinCom said.
Brigadier General Jesus Caldez, commander of the Combat and Service Support Brigade, presided the ceremony.
According to the military, the said Abu Sayyaf Group members served as coddlers, guide, and spotter of the local terror group. They also surrendered their weapons, including a grand rifle, a carbine rifle, three caliber .45 pistols, and one 38 revolver.
Colonel Ruben Candelario, commander of the 4th Marine Brigade, pledged to help the rebel returnees be reintroduced to the community and live a peaceful life with their families.
“It is very fulfilling to live in peace and harmony and be a productive citizen and instrument of development. We call on the rest of our brothers who are still contemplating to come out and take advantage of the livelihood programs being implemented by our government for the rebel returnees,” Candelario said.

Cebu Pacific cuts more jobs due to pandemic
Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Wednesday said it would have another round of job cuts as travel restrictions continue due to coronavirus pandemic.
“Bunsod nga nitong challenges brought about by COVID-19, partikular sa mga airlines, it is now necessary for us para i-review, i-review at tignan ng maigi ang entire business ng Cebu Pacific, and resources niya and really transform the airline para i-meet ‘yung future market conditions,” Cebu Pacific spokesperson Charo Logarta-Lagamon said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.
“‘Yun nga, dahil dito sa transformation process na ito, magkakaroon talaga ng rightsizing ng Cebu Pacific. Kumbaga, ia-akma ‘yung entire orgnaization kung ano ang magiging future trend and this is necessary for us to do para i-sustain po ang airline for the future,” she added.
“Wala pa po talagang final kung ilan ‘yung maapektuhang empleyado kasi ginagawa pa po ang lahat para hindi humantong sa ganon,” she said.
“Talagang nire-review pa po lahat talaga ang rest assured naman po that whatever decisions will be made will be done with transparency, sensibility, and responsibility,” added Lagamon.
