51 acquired COVID-19 after attending pool party in Nagkaisang Nayon

Fifty-one people acquired COVID-19 after attending a pool party and drinking sessions in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon in Quezon City.

A total of 610 people attended the said party and were subjected to RT-PCR swab tests after the event and 51 tested positive for the disease.

In a video shared by the Quezon City local government, the attendees were seen wearing face masks or face shields and were not observing social distancing.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte reiterated that social gatherings are not allowed under the general community quarantine.

“Kailangan pa rin ng ibayong pag-iingat at paghihigpit dahil nananatili pa rin ang peligrong hatid ng COVID-19 sa paligid,” the mayor said.

The mayor said she ordered an investigation into the pool party. Those who will be found to have violated quarantine protocols will be issued violation tickets and may face charges.

“Lahat ng mga mapapatunayang lumabag sa ating guidelines at mga ordinansa lalo na ‘yung mga nagkukumpulan at nag-iinuman o nagka-karaoke ay iisyuhan ng ordinance violation receipt (OVR) at maaaring makasuhan sa ilalim ng RA 11332,” she said.

Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon officials have yet to comment on the pool party incident.

Meanwhile, 18 of those who underwent swab tests are still awaiting test results.

Thirty-one attendees (31) were admitted to Quezon City’s HOPE facilities.

Last week, Caloocan City Administrator Oliver Hernandez said 4 of the people who went to Gubat sa Ciudad Resort in Caloocan City tested positive for COVID-19

The resort was found to be operating despite enhanced  and no longer following health protocols due to overcrowding.

According to Hernandez, contact tracing was conducted on approximately 200 people who went to the resort.

Philippine National Police chief Police General  said earlier that the  where  resort was located would also face complaints.

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan ordered the immediate closure of Gubat sa Ciudad resort after it was discovered that its operation continues.
