5 marijuana plantations found in Kalinga

Authorities raided 5 marijuana plantations in Tinglayan, Kalinga last week.

According to Police Col. James Cipriano, provincial director of Isabela Police, they found out about the plantations due to information revealed by 2 men who were caught with more than P4 million worth of marijuana on February 18.

Marijuana plantations scattered in the mountainous part of Barangay Loccong were tracked down.

The first plantation is 800 square meters, with 6,400 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plant exposed.

As many as 4,400 marijuana trees were discovered in the second plantation with an area of ​​550 square meters.

In the third place, no marijuana was found. But 30 kilos of dried marijuana stalks were recovered, which the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency estimates cost P3.6 million.

One kilo of marijuana seeds worth P25,000 was also confiscated in the said area.

About 4,800 marijuana trees were found in the fourth plantation with an area of ​​600 square meters.

In the fifth plantation, which is also 600 square meters in area, 6,000 marijuana trees were found.

In total, marijuana crops, dried stalks, and seeds are estimated to cost P7,945,000, according to the PDEA.

Authorities immediately pulled out the marijuana plants.

They are also continuing their investigation to determine who owns the marijuana plantations.

Drug syndicate leader in Nueva Ecija killed in encounter

An alleged leader of a drug syndicate died after allegedly fighting with authorities in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday.

According to Police Regional Office 3, the police launched a buy-bust operation against Alfie Tuazon in Brgy. San Roque, but the suspect sensed that his transaction was with the police.

Tuazon allegedly immediately ran and hid in a house and exchanged fire with the police.

Authorities recovered a gun, a sachet of suspected shabu, and money.

According to police, Tuazon is on the watchlist who is allegedly the leader of a drug group in San Roque. He has been arrested twice for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
