The owner of the cornfield first saw the body identified as Jonalyn Fabro, 40, from Barangay Bigbiga, Santiago, Ilocos Sur.

Adjacent to the corpse was a large stone with blood marks that could have been used to hit the victim on her head.

Authorities suspect the victim was also raped.

(There’s a possibility, but we are still waiting for the medical exam and SOCO results.)

The victim’s family could not accept what happened. According to her mother, Marilou Ecraela, the only motive she knew was a robbery.

The victim’s jewelry and cellphone were missing.

Ecraela said the victim left their home Friday night, but she did not tell her family where she is going.

But based on the investigation, the victim went to a funeral. The victim allegedly also likes to gamble.

Investigations are ongoing, including the identity of the suspect.

The victim is survived by her husband working abroad and her two young daughters.
