In an interview with TeleRadyo, Mayor Junard Chan said that the infection was discovered after a swab test as a protocol was given to 1 child who was supposed to graduate and go home to Iloilo.

A total of 63 children are being cared for at the said facility, Chan said.

Most of those who tested positive for the virus were from 9 to 10-years-old, but there were also teenagers and a 20-year-old.

“Sa 31 bale, 4 na lang nagkaubo doon. The rest are asymptomatic,” said Chan.

“Binawal na po natin ‘yong pagbisita ng pamilya. In-advise din natin ‘yong mga social worker natin na dapat hindi sila malapit dun sa mga bata,” the mayor added.

According to Chan, it is being investigated how COVID-19 came to the home care center even though the children did not come out and the students were in modular learning.
