3 students shot in road rage

Three students were seriously injured after a back-rider of the motorcycle they collided with shot them in road rage on a highway at Purok 3, Barangay Mangilag Norte, Candelaria, Quezon.

The victims identified as Arnold Estolano, 19, Kien Ivan Delos Santos, 18, and 14-year-old Mark are still being treated at the United Candelaria Doctors Hospital due to gunshot wounds to various parts of the body. All were residents of Purok 4, Barangay Mangilag Norte.

According to reports, Estolano was driving a motorcycle with his two friends riding at the back. The three were on their way to Maryland Subdivision at around 1:00 am when they collided with another motorcycle driven by Ladislao Tubo, 44, resident of 2. Brgy. Mangilag Norte and a back-rider.

Instead of talking about the damages to their vehicles and their injuries, Tubo’s unidentified back-rider became angry and pulled out a caliber 45 and fired shots at the students.

The suspects immediately escaped the crime scene when the victims fell on the ground.

Police are conducting a follow-up operation to arrest Tubo and the gunman.

2-year-old boy set on fire by mother’s lover

A 2-year-old boy died after his mother’s boyfriend set him on fire at Purok 7, Segapod, Maigo Lanao del Norte, Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Romnick Balde, a resident of the area.

According to reports, the boy almost turned into ashes when the police discovered after the suspect Florencio Curay, 55, burned the child alive.

Maigo Police Station commander Police Lt. Baltazar Deguilmo reported the crime happened when the suspect got angry with the child’s mother because of missing money worth P12,000.

The suspect first beat the boy’s mother, Janet Balde, and dragged her out of the videoke place with her 2-year-old son.

Balde managed to escape and called for help from the neighbor but left her son, who received all of the suspect’s rage and anger.

Curay did not hesitate to burn the child with dry leaves.

Police are still investigating why no resident heard the baby crying, police said.

The arrested suspect will face arson and murder into RA 7610 o child abuse.
