This July, 11,670,000 vaccines are expected to arrive, including 4.5 million Sinovac, 1 million Moderna, 1 million Sputnik V, 1.17 million AstraZeneca purchased by the private sector, and 4 million AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from the COVAX facility.

Galvez said the vaccines are expected to arrive starting in August and will be distributed to all regions.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) will also include in its national tally those who test positive for the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) COVID-19 saliva test.

PRC consultant Dr. Michael Tee said that the DOH informed them about this to more effectively see the country’s total number of virus cases.

According to the PRC, they have performed up to 365,000 saliva tests since it was approved by the DOH in January.

Tee also recommended the use of saliva collection in the provinces, especially in areas where there are few molecular laboratories.

As a result, testing will be increased in the provinces that are left behind in testing.

He called on local government leaders to only contact the PRC if they want to conduct saliva testing in their jurisdiction.
