21-year-old transgender man Ebeng Mayor found dead, allegedly raped in Quezon City

A 21-year-old transgender man was found dead in Quezon City and is suspected of being raped.

Ebeng Tria’s body was found in Bagong Silang on Thursday, a few days after he said left home, Mai Bermudez reported to the Witness on Friday.

“May nagsabi lang po na kaibigan ng anak ko na may babae daw na natagpuan sa Bagong Silang na ni-rape at hinoldap doon sa…at itinapon na lang doon sa may bangin ng Bagong Silang. Wala nang buhay, naka-hubo’t hubad,” said Ebeng’s mother Cherry Tria.

According to Ebeng’s sister Rachelle Tria, the victim said told them on Monday that he would drink with friends because he had a problem with his live-in partner in Pampanga.

“Broken po siya. Kumbaga parang nag-away sila ng asawa niya tapos umuwi siya dito. Taga-Pampanga ‘yung asawa niya. Umuwi siya dito. Pero hindi alam ng asawa niya na umalis po siya noong gabi. Tumakas daw po. Tapos umuwi sa amin,” she said.

According to Ebeng Tria’s friend, a suspect even joined the search for the victim. The police did not send him home when it became clear that he was one of the last companions of the victim. He later confessed to the crime.

“Isinama na siya sa police station siguro kaya hindi na rin siya nakawala noon. Kaya nagulat din kami na umamin siya na siya ang may gawa,” he said.

There is no confirmation from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police as to whether they are holding the suspect.

They are already investigating the death of the transgender man.

The victim’s mother and brother called on the suspects to surrender to the authorities.

Ebeng Tria is said to be kind, cheerful, and friendly.

The LGBT group Bahaghari condemned the killing of the transgender man.

“We demand a full, immediate investigation, and the passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill now!,” said Bahaghari.
