2-year-old with no travel history acquired COVID-19 in Quezon province

A two-year-old boy is the latest COVID-19 case in the province of Quezon, May 11, Monday.

According to a report by the local government of Buenavista, Quezon, the child has no travel history elsewhere.

On April 17, the child suffered severe skin disease and fever. The boy was immediately taken to a hospital in Gumaca, Quezon, and had a swab testing on April 19.

On April 24, the child was discharged from the hospital and continued with the home quarantine for 14 days.

This Sunday, May 10, the lab test results came out, and it was confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19.

The boy was taken to a hospital in Lucena City. Health officials said the child is strong and asymptomatic.

The LGU is already conducting contact tracing.

According to the data of the Department of Health, there are 37 total cases of COVID-19 in Quezon province as of May 5, 2020. The cured were four, while four also succumbed to the disease.

As of Sunday (May 10), the Philippines recorded a total of  10,794 COVID-19, including 1,924 recoveries and 719 deaths.

Ice cream vendor dies of heart attack after not receiving SAP

An ice cream vendor in Tagumcity died Friday when he suffered heart after learning he could not be helped under the social amelioration program (SAP).

The man was identified as Lolito Estelloso, Jr., 49, and a resident of Barangay Apokon.

According to Ryla May Lapudji, who obtained the video of the incident, Estelloso was disappointed because they were not included in the list to be given a cash subsidy.

According to Lapudji, Estelloso was upset because almost all of his neighbors were assisted. The man was not included because he had a job as an ice cream vendor.

The incident happened at the Department of the Interior and Local Government office at the Capitol compound of Davao Del Norte.

Estelloso was immediately rushed to the hospital but later died that night.

According to initial information from the victim’s wife, the victim had no maintenance medicine, but hypertension was in his family’s lineage.

The family has been in contact with the Tagum City LGU for help.
