2 Rottweilers attack girl in Cebu beach

A 16-year-old woman picking up sea urchins on the beach sustained injuries after she was attacked by two Rottweilers in Oslob, Cebu. The victim was also bitten by a dog last month.

On Friday, Oscar Oida reported on GMA News “24 Oras” that the video shows the dogs attacking Jenny Rose Gomilao and people shouting when the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim tried to escape the dogs by running into the deep part of the sea, but they still followed her.

Moments later, a man approached to help the victim, who sustained wounds on various parts of the body.

According to John Michael Banababa, Jenny Rose’s brother, the victim was only going to pick up sea urchins as their meal when the incident happened.

“Hindi niya makontrol sir, sa sobrang lakas ng aso. Kaya pabalik-balik sa kapatid ko. Buti na lang may nakasaksi, tinulungan din makaakyat kapatid ko,” said Banababa.

It was found out that Gomilao had just been injected with anti-rabies after she was also bitten by a dog last month.

The owner of the Rottweillers allegedly gave P4,000, but Gomilao’s brother was upset that they contacted them for medicines.

“Hindi nga pumunta sa amin o tumawag lang na kung okay na ba siya, wala sir. Parang binalewala lang kapatid ko,” said Banababa.

They are thinking of filing a lawsuit against the owner so that what happened to Gomilao will not happen to others.

But the Rottweilers’ owner, Lourdes Kapfer, defended herself, saying that they have their own cage and their dogs are in their yard.

The dogs were just released from the cage to urinate. But the dogs heard the noise of the victim and her companions, so the dogs tried to get out of the house.

“They are so noisy, and my guard told them to be quiet. Because yata mukhang aggravated or they do not understand why these girls are so noisy because they are in the water, so the dogs do not understand what is going on and they are in the ramp of our boat already,” said Kapfer.

Oslob Police said the owner of the Rottweilers could face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries.
