According to Ruby Alminar-Mutya, her mother Florencia Cabatbat Fernandez has not yet received the P100,000 cash gift from the government after her 100th birthday on February 27 of last year.

“Naaalala ng mother ko. Ini-expect niya nung birthday niya na iaabot sa kaniya. Sana po maibigay na sa kaniya,” said Mutya.

Mutya said that in May last year, she submitted the documents to their Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Angono, Rizal. But until now when Fernandez was almost 101, she still did not have the cash gift.

Lani Tabios, the section head of the Community-based Services Section of the Department of Social Welfare and Development of Region 4A, promised that Fernandez’s name has been included in the priority.

“Within this first quarter ay maibababa po ang ating cash gift ni lola at amin itong ibibigay kaagad sa kanilang bahay para naman po ma-enjoy ni lola ang kaniyang P100,000,” said Tabios.

Mutya, on the other hand, said that her mother wanted to use the money to buy her food and medicine.

“Umaasa po ako na tutuparin nila ‘yung pangakong within the first quarter. Gusto po naming lahat na mapakinabangan ng nanay ko habang siya ay malakas pa po,” she added.
