2 Filipinos attacked in New York

The NYPD is still investigating whether the two incidents are related to hate crimes.

This is the 34th incident of attacks on Filipinos recorded by the Philippine Consulate General in New York.

Two weeks ago, a Filipina was also beaten by a suspect in Yonkers, New York, which police said was an unprovoked attack.

Consol General Elmer Cato once again reminded the people of New York to be careful.

A rally is being prepared by various groups of the Filipino community to condemn the series of attacks on the countrymen.

Elmer Cato, the Philippine Consul General in New York, condemned the incident, calling it “an atrocious conduct against an elderly Filipino community member.”

“We are outraged by this unspeakable act committed against an elderly member of the Filipino Community. This is the third incident in less than a week where elderly kababayan have become victims of random violence,” he said in a Twitter post.
