2 cops injured at firearms training school in La Union

Two policemen were wounded after being hit by a bullet inside the weapons training school in Aringay town, La Union.

According to a preliminary report by Police Regional Training Center 1, instructor Police Cpl Benie Dupayat and trainee Patrolman John Conrad Villanueva were in the middle of a firearms familiarization session on Tuesday when the incident occurred.

There was a demonstration of the operating function of the .45 caliber gun when it suddenly malfunctioned and fired. The instructor was hit in the hand, and the trainee was shot in the thigh.

The two were taken to the Philippine National Police Regional Hospital, where they are recovering.

PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos, who is also a qualified firearms instructor and weapons specialist, immediately ordered an investigation.

According to Carlos, training policies need to be studied to prevent such incidents. If there is an accident at the training school, what about the regular police operation.

The chief stressed that safety is critical in weapons training, which should be the priority of all instructors.


Man shot inside computer shop in Caloocan

A man died after being shot inside a computer shop in Barangay 177 in Caloocan early Friday morning.

The body of a twenty-two-year-old man was found lying inside a computer shop at Sto Nino de Maligaya Street.

According to the initial report of the Caloocan City Police Station, the victim was working on a computer in the shop when two men suddenly entered and shot the victim. The suspects fled immediately.

According to the victim’s father, based on the testimony of some witnesses, three motorcycles were parked in front of the shop and someone entered the shop and shot his son in the head and armpit.

The father does not know what the possible motive for the crime is, especially since he said that his son has no enemies and only loves basketball. But in the initial police report, the mother said the son was involved in illegal drugs.

The investigation and follow-up operation of Sub-Station 10 of the Caloocan Police is still ongoing.
