“We, therefore, ask VP Leni to accept our endorsement to lead the Filipino people in this difficult time in our history,” Carpio said.

If Robredo refuses their endorsement, Carpio said the coalition would meet again to discuss the next step.

However, the former magistrate believes that Robredo will not reject the nomination.

Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor -Carpio is still leading the presidential survey. According to the Pulse Asia survey released Wednesday, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has overtaken President Rodrigo Duterte as vice president.

If the May 2022 national elections were held during the survey period, it would turn out to be the “top 10” currently favored by the public to win:

  • Duterte, Sara “Inday” (20%)
  • Marcos, Ferdinand “Bongbong (15%)
  • Domagoso, Francisco “Isko Moreno” (13%)
  • Pacquiao, Emmanuel “Manny” (12%)
  • Poe, Grace (9%)
  • Robredo Maria Leonor “Leni” (8%)
  • Lacson, Panfilo “Ping” (6%)
  • Cayetano, Alan Peter (4%)
  • Go, Christopher “Bong Go” (3%)
  • Trillanes, Antonio “Sonny” (1%)

“Filipinos are split when it comes to their second choice for president. However, should their original presidential candidate decide not to run in May 2022, about the same percentages would instead for vote Senator Poe (14%), former Senator Marcos (14%), Manila Mayor Domagoso (13%), or Davao City Mayor Duterte (11%),” Pulse Asia added.
