18 people killed in Rizal, Mendez, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan road accidents since Monday

18 people were killed in separate road accidents in Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija. Most of the fatalities were from Rizal accident when a dump truck that lost its brakes and collided with a trailer truck and passenger jeepney killed 9.

At least nine were killed in the tragic accident in Cardona, Rizal.

The accident happened at an area in LLDA in Barangay Looc, Cardona town, at about 5:30 am this Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Among those who got killed were all hanging out and jogging on the side of the road. Three of them had previously been identified, while the six others are yet to be determined.

Cavite

In Mendez, Cavite, two were killed, and 15 were hospitalized when an 18-wheeler carrying sand lost its brakes.

According to Jeffrey Almansor, chief of the Mendez Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the truck plowed through private and public vehicles.

Gapan, Nueva Ecija

Three were killed in a road accident in Gapan, Nueva Ecija, according to a “Unang Balita” report on Tuesday.

In an initial police report, a dump truck collided with some parked tricycles and a motorcycle.

The condition of the two hospitalized patients is critical.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The truck driver admitted he had fallen asleep while driving.

Bulacan

In Bocaue, Bulacan, four were killed, and six were injured when a pickup truck crashed into two tricycles, four motorcycles, an SUV and an L-300 van.

According to the 67-year-old pickup driver, his vehicle suddenly went “wild”.


2 police officers dead in Zamboanga Sibugay road accidents

Two policemen were killed while four other policemen were injured in an accident in Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay, on Monday afternoon.

The accident happened around 2 pm in Purok 3, Barangay Guilawa.

The deceased were identified as Police Corporal Jource Jake Celestial and Police Corporal Alexander Laquinon Jr.

Police Corporal Rommel Apiong, Police Patrolman Estephen Rey Alicando, Patrolman Arcel Matugas, and Patrolman Logie S. Cerbo were wounded.

All of the victims were policemen at the Malangas Municipal Police Station.

It was learned that six policemen had been assigned to Diplusan to retrieve the materials needed at the Christmas party on Wednesday, December 17th.
