Troops of Police Station 3 arrested 14 employees of the Davao City Engineer’s Office after they were caught partying and drinking inside the Motor Pool compound in Barangay Ma-a in this city, Tuesday afternoon.
Police caught up with government employees with bottles of wine while still wearing their uniforms.
Earlier, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte issued a stern warning against the Davawenyos, especially government employees who violate the law prohibiting gatherings such as Christmas parties in the city due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On November 2, the mayor also reinstated the 24-hour liquor ban until the end of the year.
“A stern warning and reminder to all offices not to conduct parties. Heads of offices should remind their personnel every day to give honor (by following protocols) to their fellow employees who are hard at work on the Covid-19 frontlines,” according to Davao City Mayor Duterte after learning of the violation of government employees.
The mayor has already assigned the Davao City Human Resource Management Office to investigate other violations of those arrested besides liquor ban cases.
Police dead in Negros Occ. shot dead while jogging with mayor
37-year-old Police Staff Sargeant Ildefonso Casugod died after being shot by an unidentified gunman in the Reclamation Area of Pontevedra town in Negros Occidental, Tuesday morning.
Based on the police investigation, Casugod was jogging at 6 a.m., along with Mayor Jose Maria Alonzo, when the gunman suddenly approached him and shot him in the head, causing his death.
According to Pontevedra Police officer-in-charge Captain Hancel Lumandaz, the suspect only targeted the police.
They had other comrades, but no one knew the culprit because he was wearing a face mask and was wearing the hood of his jacket.
The culprit immediately got on a motorcycle driven by his look-out.
According to Lumandaz, it is possible that his job as an intelligence officer of the Pontevedra Police was the motive for Casugod’s murder.
The victim was handling some cases related to illegal drugs and illegal gambling.
