Fake LTO members arresting motorists caught by real LTFRB members

Members of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) nabbed six men posing as members of the flying squad of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tarlac. The suspects, charged for allegedly wearing uniforms and causing traffic jams are making the arrests.

In a report by King Guevarra on GMA Regional TV “Balitang Amianan” on Tuesday, the chief of Victoria, Tarlac Police Station, said that the group of LTFRB members passed by on La Paz-Victoria Road and found that motorists were arresting the fake self-identified LTOs.

“Nadaanan po nila (LTFRB) itong grupo po na nagpapangagap na ‘Flying Squad’ ng LTO dito sa kahabaan ng La Paz-Victoria Road na kung saan kahina-hina yung kanilang suot na uniporme at ID, nag-create na ng traffic,” according to Police Major Randy Gomez, chief of the Victoria Police Station where LTFRB members took the suspects.

The LTFRB members allegedly searched for the relevant documents of the identified LTO members such as the mission order.

But the suspects allegedly did not show anything so the LTFRB members became more suspicious so they took the men to the police station.

According to Gomez, three truck drivers went to their station and complained that the group of fake LTO members asked them for money.

LTO-Region 3 has not yet responded when asked for comment about the suspects but it allegedly confirmed to the police that they were not the ones arrested, who are facing the corresponding charges.
