Authorities burned around P2 million worth of “high-grade” marijuana in Ilocos Sur.
The joint forces of Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) discovered the marijuana in a secluded area in the town of Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, according to reports on Sunday.
In the report of Sugpon Police Station (SPS) commander P / Lt. Jerry Arzabal, and their police and PDEA-Ilocos Sur, they conducted the operation on September 19 and 20.
The team found six marijuana plantations at Sitio Nagawa, Barangay Caoayan in the said town.
Arzabal said about 400 fully-grown “high-grade” marijuana plants were discovered, uprooted, and burned at the very site where marijuana was planted.
The chief said they are grateful for the cooperation of concerned citizens in the area who provided information on the marijuana plantation’s location.
Marijuana plantation discovered in Candelaria, Quezon
Police found a marijuana plantation on a farm in Candelaria, Quezon, on Tuesday morning.
Authorities uprooted around 68 marijuana plants which were hidden along with other plants. Some dried leaves of the illegal plant were also seized.
The farm’s caretaker said the owner cooks the marijuana to get cannabis oil which was allegedly used as medicine. She also said that the owner would soak the pot in “lambanog” or Philippines Coconut Wine to extract the oil.
Authorities already identified the owner of the marijuana plantation and will conduct a follow-up operation to arrest the suspect.
