An American man has been missing from his hotel in Angeles City since November 7, 2015. Lewis Yakich, owner of the Lewis Grand Hotel located on Don Juico Avenue has been missing for two months, with no leads by local police.
Yakich’s friends fear he may have been killed or abducted.
The American is a material science engineer from California and came to Angeles City over a decade ago.
According to local police, Yakich’s girlfriend still has possession of his passport.
His relatives in the United States have informed the US Embassy in Manila about his disappearance.
The embassy, through its spokesman, declined to comment on the case, citing privacy concerns.
Police are say that Yakich is not involved in any type of police report or criminal activity and do not suspect he is in any kind of trouble criminally.
Yakich was last seen by his girlfriend before heading out for a business meeting.
Yakich is believed to be in his early 40s – anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact Angeles City Police.
He became widely known for developing a 3D printer that he used to create a two-bedroom villa at his high-end hotel.
The finished structure was about 34.5 feet by 41 feet with walls that reached as high as 10 feet. That included two bedrooms, a living room and even a separate room with a 3D printed Jacuzzi. The printing process took about 100 hours.
Although Yakich first used his 3D printing process to build a room at his hotel, he had far more altruistic plans. Due to the huge demand for low-cost housing in the Philippines, he was hoping that his technology could be used to help build cheaper and safer homes. In fact, the Philippine government had already approved Yakich to work with their low-income housing programme as a qualified builder.
