Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo, Philippine National Police (PNP) Public Information Office chief, on Monday said that the PNP relieved a police officer for allegedly using gas allocation coupons for his private vehicle after a social media post went viral showing him using the slip.

Cerbo did not disclose the man’s name but said he was a member of the Internal Affairs Service of the PNP.

“When we checked the picture, we traced it to IAS in Camp Crame. It is already being investigated under the instructions of IAS Chief Police Director Alexander Roldan,” Cerbo said during in a press briefing held in PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame.

Cerbo clarified that only official vehicles of the PNP are entitled to use gas slips and they should not be used for personal use.

Cerbo said that every unit of the PNP had certain gas allocation for one quarter or monthly and the supply officer was the one who was responsible on how to manage or distribute it to their members for official business.

“May mga supply officer nanagha-handle ng gas slip sa mga opisina, pwede Police Commission Officer (PCO) at Police Non Commission Officer (PNCO), depende sa nature ng paggamit, pwede rin sa individual na involved sa official movement, activity ng PNP,” Cerbo said.

In a Facebook page went viral in a social media when a civilian person posted two pictures of gas slip of PNP with 10 litres allocation in his wall with caption “ Gas supply when in PH, thanks Pa!”
