Rape charges have been filed against a retired US Navy serviceman and his Filipino friend before the City’s Prosecution Office in Tacloban City.
The charges comes after a complaint was filed on March 13, five days after the American arrived in the Philippines.
The accuser, aged 34, says the Filipino, her cousin, dragged into the toilet at her aunt’s house where they both raped her.
Police say the complaint was supported by a medical report.
The two suspects were arrested on March 15 at a Billiard and KTV Bar on Real Street.
The unnamed American, when interviewed by the online news magazine The Freeman, said he had no knowledge of the crime he is accused of.
He said: “I am here for vacation as a tourist and I never committed any crime here or in any other country.”
