A Ugandan has been arrested in a drug sting inside an exclusive subdivision in Sta. Rose, Laguna on Thursday.

Rufus Katumba along with his live-in partner and siblings have all been arrested in dealing in drugs. Recovered from the scene were ten kilos of cocaine and two kilos of shabu. The drugs were placed in several packs and were hidden inside Katumba’s shoes.

Katumba has been in the Philippines for the past ten years and is a supposed leader of the West African Drug Syndicate – the drugs found in his home have an estimated street value of at least 20 million pesos.

Police say that Katumba was involved in another drug case involving four Filipinos who were caught bringing cocaine in from Hong Kong on September 27.

Authorities are warning the public against those who recruit people via social media. In the case of the four in the Hong Kong matter, all four were recruited to be drug mules and drug couriers for Katumba.
