Two suspected bomb couriers were killed on Tuesday as they passed through the region of Pikit in North Cotabato.
Captain Jo-Ann Petinglay, the public affairs chief of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division – said that the two men were killed instantly when the motorcycle they were driving exploded. The box the duo was transporting was an improvised bomb which exploded prematurely killing both men on Quezon Street.
Pikit is the gateway to the 220,000-hectare Liguasan Delta, a known haven of extortion gangs and bigger groups identified with the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters or BIFF.
Petinglay said Army intelligence operatives are now helping the Pikit municipal police determine the exact identities of the two men and their group affiliation.
