Military vs. Abu Sayyaf in Sulu, 8 soldiers injured

Eight soldiers were injured after an encounter with 40 members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Patikul, Sulu.

According to a Western Mindanao Command statement, the clash broke out between the Joint Task Force Sulu and Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan’s group and Radullan Sahiron on Thursday.

It is not known how many casualties the Abu Sayyaf Group had because of the encounter with the military in Sulu.

The wounded soldiers are being treated at Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital in Busbus, Sulu.

WesMinCom Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana saluted the soldiers for their dedication to ensuring the security of the country.

“I salute our gallant soldiers for their bravery and utmost dedication to their sworn duty,” said Sobejana.

Sobejana assured the public that the military would continue to strengthen its operation against terrorists in Sulu and other provinces under WesMinCom‘s control.

Three suspected suicide bombers of the Abu Sayyaf Group were killed in a military encounter in Indanan, Sulu, on Tuesday.

According to the military, those killed include two Egyptian nationals and a Filipino.

The foreigners were identified only by the names Abduramil and Abdurahman, which were believed to be a father and son.

According to Western Mindanao Commander Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, the three terrorists were about to carry out suicide bombings when they were stopped by members of the Philippine Army at a checkpoint in Barangay Kan Islam at 5:00 pm.

The Sulu Abu Sayyaf suicide bombers fired at the soldiers and took. The military and the suspects exchanged fires, which lasted for about five minutes.

The military is confirming whether two Egyptians are related to a female suicide bomber who attacked a military outpost in Sulu in September.

Bomb plot of Abu Sayyaf in Basilan intercepted

Military troops intercepted the bomb plot of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Basilan on Tuesday.

The troops seized six improvised bombs after their encounter with the terrorist group in Brgy. Calang Canas, Maluso, Basilan.

According to Major Arvin John Encinas, spokesman for the Western Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Alpha Company of the 68th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army received a report of the Abu Sayyaf Group’s presence in the area at around 1:50 am.

The military troops and the ASG exchanged fires that lasted for more than 30 minutes.

AFP believes some ASG members got injured and even died during the encounter. The terrorist group quickly escaped to an unknown destination.

The military troops intercepted the bomb plot of Abu Sayyaf after military K9 officers recovered six Improvised Explosive Devices the terrorists planted along Basilan Circumferential Road.
