The crew of MV Cecilia had to think quickly this past Saturday when a group of hijacking sea pirates attempted to overtake them off the coast of Balut Island.
The crew managed to lock themselves in their quarters – securing every window and every access point.

The Philippine Coast Guard confirmed the hijacking of MV Cecilia when two boats with a total of about eight men boarded the ship and attempted to take control of it.
The crew said the men left empty-handed before a Coast Guard vessel arrived on a “mayday” call.
The Coast Guard said the attempt was not related to the kidnapping on Samal Island, which is just 200 km to the north.
