A newly-created bicycle patrol unit will undergo training before hitting the streets of Davao City.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said that a series of training exercises will be implemented before the cops will be deployed throughout the city.
Thirty new mountain bikes from Philippine National Police headquarters arrived in Davao last Friday.
The Official turnover ceremony of the bicycles will take place November 24 at DCPO at Camp Quintin M Merecido.
In an interview with SunStar, a police official said: “We are thankful that the City Government of Davao has approved the budget that will be used for the training our police officers will be undergoing before they can operate these MTB units.”
Officials said each mountain bike came at a cost of 30,000 pesos.
“Our new bike patrol unit will help in providing more police visibility in the downtown area, particularly in areas where mobile patrols cannot enter.”
