Authorities are hunting a rookie cop and his father after the two killed a 26-year-old driver following a argument over a half sack of rice on Monday in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police say 28-year-old PO1 Arnel Arambolo who is assigned to the Manila Police Department and his father, 56-year-old Fernando Arambolo, were responsible for killing Gabriel Cagorol.

An investigation into the incident shows the two men were drunk and barged into the victim’s house at 10.30pm, demanding payment for a half-sack of rice that Cagorol owed the men.

Cagorol pleaded for an extension to make full payment but Arambolo refused and a heated altercation ensued.

The victim’s father intervened and tried to calm the situation but a fistfight ensued. The elder Arambolo bit the upper leg of Gabriel Senior while the rookie police officer drew his gun, shooting the victim in the chest.

The victim was rushed to Quezon City General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
