President Duterte tells developers to start work on Davao coastal plan

President Duterte issued a challenge to local and regional developers to bring coastal development in Davao within a year; the challenge has now been set.

The billion dollar coastal projects aimed at Davao are just what the city needs – the various regions plaguing the notorious ‘Boulevard,’ as well as numerous other coastal areas has brought crime, and pollution to the entire city.

The Mega Harbour Port and Development Inc. will also bring a 38-billion peso private development project to Davao City. The project involves a 200-hectare reclamation area which is to be completed by 2019. The project will cover the shores of Matina Bucanaupto to R. Castillo St. in Agdao.

Officials said that the signing of the project marks the full realization that it will transform Davao City into a stunning metro area. The project will go to the permits and approvals phase where government agencies will begin the reclamation project. Those permits and approvals are said to take at least one year.
