Authorities went looking for a Polish trekker and her local guide after they went missing while hiking Mount Kanlaon in Negros Island after the steam explosion/eruption on Monday.
The office of the Protected Area Superintendent (PASU) on Tuesday was able to reach 43-year-old Anna Hodson and her trained guide, Balmerie Villar.
PASU Deputy Noel Macado said the two were on a descent down the volcanic mountain and are safe from any harm.
Macado said that two reached base at the town of Murcia on Tuesday afternoon.
The PASU issued a trekking permit to Hodson on Monday morning when a steam explosion of Mount Kanlaon was noted later that evening.
Officials said the Kanlaon Green Brigade attempted to local Hodson and Villar after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seimsmology (Phivolcs) has issued an advisory giving an Alert Level #1 for the entire region of Kanlaon.
Macado noted that the two trekkers had reached a heavy and dense forested area of the mountain and could not be contacted.
No other permits have been issued around Kanlaon since the Alert Level #1 remains in affect.
