A spokesman for the Philippines National Police (PNP) said that the figure was based on the most recent data released by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) and put the metro area as one of the worst in the Philippines.

Metro-Manila has 1,706 barangays. The report by DDB showed that 92.10 per cent were ravaged with drugs. In all, the Philippines has approximately a 30 per cent infestation rate.

Shabu is the most used drug in the Philippines and is sold on the streets for about 100 pesos per gram.

Although Cebu City was not in the report, the city itself issued an report last week that in the first three months of the year their courts were jammed with 500 drug related cases, some involving police officers.
