A Kiwi tourist lost more than 120,000 pesos worth of electronic gadgets and valuables to a thief who entered his rented room in a pension  house in Cebu City on Wednesday.

72-year-old David John Bealey was surprised when he returned to his room at 7am and found his valuables missing.

When he asked the front desk about the robbery, he was told that a man asked for his key card to his room just minutes before he arrived that morning.

“She eventually gave the key card for Room 204 to the suspect without thinking that the foreigner was the lone occupant of said room,” the police said.

Police viewed the CCTV footage of the pension house and viewed the unidentified suspect – he exited the pension house with a full sling bag and one additional bag.

Baeley told police that he lost his newly issued passport along with an Ipad, one Dell laptop, a disc player, luggage, a computer case, a travel bag and his wallet containing bank cards.
