Mr Ziemba is wanted by Las Vegas police on eight counts of sexual assault, including the harassment of children aged under 14

An American was locked up by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Central Visayas after it was discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest for the sexual assault of young children.

Brian Keith Ziemba, aged 47, was applying for an Exit Clearance Certificate (ECC) at the BI office in Mandaue City when the warrant, issued by Las Vegas Police, was spotted.

It detailed eight allegations of sexual assault, including the harassment of children aged below 14.

“He also has a summary deportation order, which was ordered by the immigration commissioner,” said special prosecutor Ronaldo Deray.

Ziemba arrived in Cebu in May, 2016, and was granted a visa valid until next Saturday.

He had visited the BI office because he was planning to go back to the USA and needed an ECC.

Mr Deray said Ziemba would be sent into custody in Manila before being deported. In the meantime, checks will be made to see if there are any pending cases against him in the Philippines.

Ziemba has a Filipina wife and a 13-year-old daughter, and it is believed he owned and managed a restaurant in Mandaue City.
