A suspect in the 2013 killing of an American diver from Negros Occidental was killed in a shootout on Friday when he was confronted by police.
Eric Blacquio was gunned down by police after he fired on authorities in Cadiz City.
Blacquio was tagged as a suspect in the killing of American diver Matthew Caldwell, who was killed in Las Piñas in 2013.
Mathew Caldwell was one of the divers who assisted in retrieving the remains of the late Interior Secretary Jess Robredo in 2012. Robredo died in an airplane crash after leaving Cebu City for Naga City. The crash happened on August 17, 2012, killing both pilots and Robredo.
Caldwell was also the auxiliary captain and a member of the search team which killed 21 passengers who were trapped inside the MV Catalyn B in 2010.
