Two young sisters were killed by their uncle while they slept in their home in Carcar City, southern Cebu this week.

29-year-old Domingo Llanos Mangyao killed his two nieces, aged 16 and 11. They died due to fatal wounds to the neck and body from a long bolo. 

Mangyao committed suicide after killing the girls. He reportedly slashed his own neck. He had recently been released from prison after holding his nephew hostage in 2014.

The father of the two young girls said that he and his wife were at a neighbours house after eating dinner. The wife was asked to lead a prayer on the 40th day of the death of the neighbour.

When they returned at 10pm, the father said their two grandsons were crying, telling them that their uncle had stabbed and hacked their two aunts.

The wife and husband ran into the house and found the body of the one girl laying on a mat, her head nearly severed completely off.

The father than ran into another room of the house and found the other girl with severe wounds to the body and neck.

The two young boys escaped by hiding in a large basin.
