A 20-year old man committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor inside Gaisano Mall (Gmall) in Davao today (Saturday, February 11).
Police said the man died instantly as a result of his head-first fall.
The man has been identified as Rheyn Mark Tubato who lives in Barangay Sasa.
Investigators say that according to onlookers Tubato appeared distraught before he climbed the railings and jumped to his death.
Based on further investigations, police said the man’s father was ill and had sent his son to the mall to buy medicine.
Today’s incident is not the first time that somebody has leapt to their death in the mall. In 2013, internet cafe worker, Nestor Ramos Jr. of Panabo City, jumped from the fourth floor.
