“Kid Kulafu” a Documentary Film to be Released in 2015

“Kid Kulafu” is the name of a new documentary that charts the rise of Manny Pacquiao from his childhood through his first win in Bangkokto the global sporting superstar that he is today.

The story unfolds in his childhood birthplace, Bukidnon.

The name “Kid Kulafu” was given by his uncle as Manny use to head out during the day picking up Kulafu bottles for money. From his struggles to his ultimate number one knockout win at the age of 19, Manny’s life has inspired untold Filipinos, and people the world over.

The movie features Filipino actors playing Manny at various stages of his life from the age of five.

Auditions for the film were originally held in Metro Manila and General Santos City. Direction, talks and interviews with family, friends and even The ‘Pac-man’ himself took over 24 months to create, invent and churn into a movie set production.

Filmed mainly in General Santos City the movie was shot in Manny’s elementary school and also in Dizon Cordero’s home, where the young boxer lived during his training.

“Kid Kulafu” might be one of the most famous little spirits from the island of Mindanao, but the ‘rocket man’ himself has not only made the largest island in the Philippines famous, he has truly brought fame, fortune and pride to the Filipino people.
