Hundreds of performers will converge on Koronadal City from August 9-18 for the International Folklore and Arts Festival.
The event will show case traditions from 12 visiting nations including Armenia, Russia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Poland, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, India and Japan.
A total of four groups from the Philippines will perform including UP Filipiniana Dance Troupe – PNU Kislap Sining – Barangay Folk Dance Group and ECD Dance Company of the Philippines. Also performing will be the Koronadal Hinugyaw Cultural Dance Troupe.
The festival, dubbed “Pyesta Kolon Datal” will open August 10th at the South Cotabato Sports Complex following two full days of performances at the South Cotabato Gymasium and Cultural Center, followed by a gala show at Rizal Park.
Other performances can be seen throughout the city at KCC Mall, Grand Mall and Koronadal City Public Market.
Koronadal Mayor Peter Miguel said: “Piyesta Kolon Datal” highlights the unique and distinct culture of our indigenous people, the B’laans, and we want to share this with the world.”
