A lone gunman attempted to overtake two schools in Colombio, Sultan Kudarat on Friday morning.

25-year-old Anwar Kamanso Ulangkaya of Datu Paglas in Maguindanao, rushed the front gate of Colombio Elementary School at 9am. He was accosted by a school security guard. Ulangkaya attempted to fire at the guard but missed.

He then fled on foot to the adjacent Colombia National High School where he shot at a teacher and again, missed.

Police were then called to the scene to talk him into surrendering, Ulangkaya fired on the police, slightly wounding one officer before he himself was killed in a hail of bullets.
