An examination of Google Trends can offer a fascinating insight in the burning concerns of the nation over the past 12 months.
Philstar.com looked into the most asked “how to,” “what is” and “who is” questions in the Philippines, and compiled the following top-ten lists:

The top 10 “Who is” most searched were:

4 Who is the president of the Philippines
5 Who is Jose Rizal
6 Who is your Filipino celebrity look alike
7 Who is Isaac Newton
8 Who is Jesus Christ
9 Who is the richest man in the world
10 Who is Lucia Joaquin
The top 10 “What is” or “What are” most-Googled were:
1 What is life
2 What is love
3 What is science
4 What time is it

Google trends also offers insights into where in the country certain questions were most popular.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, ‘how to sleep’ was the most popular ‘how to’ search in the crowded and noisy areas of Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Central Visayas and Davao.
Online trends also left their mark, with queries about celebrity lookalikes peaking in April after a quiz from a site called WittyBunny started doing the rounds on Facebook.
The question “Who is Lucia Joaquin” is related to a short horror story that also circulated on social media in April.
As to how anybody with access to the internet could need to ask who the president is, will perhaps have to remain a mystery.
