Four Chinese men have been sentenced to life in prison for their part is violating the gun ban during election periods in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte in 2013.

The four were arrested after causing a commotion at a gasoline station in Pasuquin on May 28, 2013. The four fled the scene and were arrested by police at a nearby checkpoint.

The suspects were caught with several high-calibre firearms including three MP5 submachine guns, two .45 calibre pistols, two 9mm pistols, a .40 calibre gun and other items including bullets, a silencer and several licence plates.

Sentenced were Leng Haiyun, Dang Huiyin, Liu Wen Xion and Lei Guang Feng. The four suspects are believed to be members of a gun-for-hire group but claimed to be tourists.

The four were sentenced to life based on evidence presented by police and witnesses.
