47-year-old Jaime Daño died in an ambush after he left the Lapu Lapu City Hall of Justice this week. Two unidentified men riding tadem motorcycle shot at Daño twice.

Daño was a resident of Sitio Sola, Barangay Punta Engaño where he was the village chief in 2013.

Daño was the owner of a shell-craft business. Lapu Lapu Police examined the crime scene, telling reporters the bullets enters on the right part of the victim’s head, exiting on the left. Daño was originally at the Hall of Justice hearing a case on dynamite fishing involving two senior citizens. Daño’s wife said he often helped neighbours in need.

Family members could not pinpoint a person behind Daño’s shooting because they did not reportedly hear of the victim receiving death threats recently.

Police recovered from the crime scene the victim’s mobile phone, his car keys and two empty shells believed to be from a .45 calibre pistol.
