Five members of the New People’s Army were caught and arrested for planting improvised explosive devices along the roadways in Pantukan, Compostela Valley, on Friday.
The 46th Infantry Battalion had been conducting patrols in the area when they noticed the communist rebels planting the bombs.
Soldiers from the battalion arrested the five suspects and handed them over to Pantukan police for a formal investigation as well as filing of appropriate charges.
Major General Rafael Valencia, commander of the 10th Infantry Division said that “those who are threats to the safety of the public are bound to face the consequences.”
He added” “These NPA rebels who are terrorising the people should be dealt in accordance with the rule of law. Let the court of law decide their fate.”
Recently, Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte seems to have let at least two NPA guerrillas free in the Compostela Valley. Many netizens believe Duterte is an appeaser to the NPA terrorists, others believe he is appeasing them to keep them at bay.
