The Western Metro Manila Crime Investigation and Detection Team busted a syndicate in Santa Cruz, Manila this past week for counterfeiting 1,000 peso notes.

In the raid the team found bundles of fake bills which were later tested and came up counterfeit.

Arrested were the mastermind, Richard Ansos, 31, of Bgy. Bibingkahan, Sorsogon City, and currently residing at 1697 LRC Compound, and his staff identified as Ramoncito Joseph, 43, Rodolfo Paerat, 48, Adelaida Castillo, 36, and Analyn Reyes, 37, all of Yellow Bell, Happy Land in Vitas, Tondo, Manila.

Police set a sting operation with the group, buying 15 fake 1,000 peso bills for only 200 pesos each. The suspects will be charged with Article #166 of the Revised Penal Code (forging bank notes), and Article $168 (illegal possession of false treasury – bank notes).
