Filipina Marites Flor, one of four hostages taken from Oceanview Marina on Samal Island in September, has been freed by her captors.
Flor was one of two remaining hostages from Samal Island, only Kjartan Sekkingstad of Norway is the remaining hostage held by the terrorist organisation.
Marites was released on Friday and broke down in tears as she recounted how her partner, John Hall, had been beheaded. During questioning she had a hard time keeping her composure when asked about Hall and John Ridsdel who was beheaded in April.
“It was painful to see them so happy before they did the beheading. They just put handcuffs on him and took him out,” she said.
Flor was dropped off at dawn outside the house of a local politician on Sulu. Incoming Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said he and his aides were able to negotiate for her release.
Duterte told reporters that he is currently attempting to secure the release of Norwegian national Kjartan Sekkingstad, a former caretaker at Oceanview Marina.
Duterte spoke with Martise Flor standing beside him in Davao City when he said: “Hopefully, God willing, the Norwegian will be freed soon.”
Flor’s release came on the same day that insurgents kidnapped seven Indonesian sailors from a coal barge tug boat near the region of Sulu
